About The Position

Northwestern Medical Group (NMG) and the Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM) at Northwestern University seek a full-time cardiothoracic surgeon. Primary responsibilities include providing adult cardiac surgery services in Northwestern Medicine’s Palos hospital. Our cardiac surgery program is rapidly growing with routine and complex cardiac procedures including transcatheter interventions. Employment will be with the Northwestern Medicine Group of cardiac surgeons led by Dr. Douglas Johnston. Preferred candidates will play a vital role in the growth and coordination of care and distinctive program development throughout the Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute system and will have significant opportunities for leadership development throughout the Northwestern Medicine. Cardiothoracic surgeons in this position may participate in academic programs of the Feinberg School of Medicine, including educational programs (e.g., teaching service, training, preceptorship, mentoring, etc.) or research programs (e.g., participation in clinical trials, referring patients for clinical trials, etc.). Salary is commensurate with experience. BCVI is a full service, fully integrated institute across the system. The six clinical centers comprising BCVI are the Center for Heart Rhythm Disorders, Center for Coronary Disease, Center for Vascular Disease, Center for Valve Disease, Center for Heart Failure and the Center for Preventive Cardiology.

Requirements

  • Strong background in clinical cardiothoracic surgery.
  • Completion of an ACGME accredited cardiothoracic surgery fellowship program.
  • Board certified or eligible in cardiothoracic surgery.
