About The Position

Performs functions and technical procedures necessary for patient admission, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Participates in performance improvement, research, and educational activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• Graduation from an accredited Accreditation Review Committee for Physician Assistant Programs (ARC-PA) program.
• Licensed Physician Assistant (LPA) by the New York State Department of Education.
• Current NCCPA certification from the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants.
• Current BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Takes initial patient histories and performs physical examinations.
• Initiates, documents, and communicates plans of care; follows up to ensure patients are fully screened and prepared.
• Performs daily patient rounds.
• Writes orders for medications, laboratory work, and diagnostic tests, and interprets laboratory and test results.
• Consults with attending physicians, residents, nursing staff, and other care providers to support quality patient care.
• Documents discharge summaries, prescriptions, and referrals in patient charts; provides patients with post-discharge care instructions.
• Performs related duties as required.
