About The Position

Corewell Health is recruiting an experienced Physician Assistant to join its Cardiothoracic Surgery inpatient advanced practice provider team at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The nationally recognized cardiothoracic surgery program performs the highest volume of adult open-heart surgeries in Michigan. The team provides surgical first assisting and critical care management for cardiothoracic surgery patients. In collaboration with physician colleagues, the Physician Assistant provides care in a team-based model, including operating-room first assisting, endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting, and critical and general medical care for pre- and post-operative cardiothoracic surgery patients.

The position is full-time, with 40 scheduled hours per week and variable shifts and days. Weekend frequency is variable. Corewell Health offers a comprehensive benefits package and additional employee programs. Benefits eligibility depends on employment type and status.

Requirements

• Master's degree.
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.
• Michigan State Physician Assistant license, required upon hire.
• Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) certification from NCCPA, required upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from AHA or ARC, required within 90 days.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from AHA, required within 120 days.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from AHA, required within 120 days.

Nice To Haves

• Two or more years of advanced practice provider experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide surgical first assistance in the operating room.
