About The Position

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is seeking experienced Physician Assistants (PAs) to provide adult primary and urgent care within the Alaska Department of Corrections. This multi-year opportunity involves recurring statewide assignments, offering competitive 1099 compensation, billable travel, clinical autonomy, and the chance to practice broad-spectrum correctional medicine while serving a medically underserved patient population. The role focuses on correctional medicine, jail and prison medicine, and adult primary care in a secure medical environment.

Requirements

• Current NCCPA certification and an active Physician Assistant license valid in Alaska, or the demonstrated ability to obtain Alaska licensure prior to assignment.
• Active DEA registration, or the ability to obtain one.
• Ability to satisfy all Alaska practice, collaboration, consultation, and facility-specific requirements applicable to the assignment.
• Correctional healthcare experience is required (jail, prison, or detention setting).
• Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Ability to pass the facility background investigation.
• Current BLS.
• U.S. work authorization required.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Deliver adult primary and urgent care in a secure correctional (jail/prison) medical environment across assigned Alaska Department of Corrections facilities.
• Conduct history and physical examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, and run sick call and scheduled provider clinics.
• Manage chronic disease, medication reconciliation, and medication-assisted treatment; prescribe within scope, including controlled substances under active DEA registration.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; coordinate specialty referrals and continuity of care.
• Respond to urgent and emergent clinical situations and provide on-call coverage per the facility schedule.
• Document in the facility EHR and comply with correctional healthcare standards, security protocols, and standards of care.
