About The Position

CLFC Healthcare and Communications is seeking experienced Physician Assistants (PAs) to join Alaska's Correctional Healthcare Team. This multi-year opportunity involves providing adult primary and urgent care throughout the Alaska Department of Corrections. The role offers recurring statewide assignment volume, competitive 1099 compensation, billable travel, clinical autonomy, and the chance to practice broad-spectrum correctional medicine while serving a medically underserved patient population in a secure medical environment.

Requirements

• Current NCCPA certification and an active Physician Assistant license valid in Alaska, or the demonstrated ability to obtain Alaska licensure prior to assignment.
• Active DEA registration, or the ability to obtain one.
• Ability to satisfy all Alaska practice, collaboration, consultation, and facility-specific requirements applicable to the assignment.
• Correctional healthcare experience is required (jail, prison, or detention setting).
• Minimum 2 years of clinical practice as a Physician Assistant.
• Ability to pass the facility background investigation.
• Current BLS.
• U.S. work authorization required.

Nice To Haves

• Multi-year correctional healthcare experience.
• Chronic disease and medication-assisted treatment experience.
• Existing Alaska licensure and DEA.
• ACLS.
• Rural or frontier medicine and telehealth experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver adult primary and urgent care in a secure correctional (jail/prison) medical environment across assigned Alaska Department of Corrections facilities.
• Conduct history and physical examinations, diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, and run sick call and scheduled provider clinics.
• Manage chronic disease, medication reconciliation, and medication-assisted treatment; prescribe within scope, including controlled substances under active DEA registration.
• Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic studies; coordinate specialty referrals and continuity of care.
• Respond to urgent and emergent clinical situations and provide on-call coverage per the facility schedule.
• Document in the facility EHR and comply with correctional healthcare standards, security protocols, and standards of care.
