About The Position

The UrgentOrtho Physician Assistant provides timely, specialized orthopedic care to patients presenting with acute musculoskeletal injuries outside of traditional clinic hours. Working in a fast-paced orthopedic urgent care environment, this provider independently evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients of all ages while collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons and care teams to ensure seamless continuity of care. Providers in this role may work evening shifts during the week and weekend clinic hours based on patient demand and scheduling needs. Requirements

  • Graduate of a nationally accredited Physician Assistant program
  • State of Michigan Physician Assistant licensure
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) License
  • Proven experience as a Physician Assistant in an orthopaedic setting, with demonstrated expertise in evaluating and treating patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations, presenting with a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of musculoskeletal examination techniques, orthopedic injury management, diagnostic interpretation, treatment planning, and rehabilitation principles.
  • Familiarity with advancements in medical technology and ability to integrate them into patient care.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Caring and compassionate demeanor, with a strong focus on patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages presenting with acute orthopedic and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Perform focused orthopedic examinations and obtain relevant patient histories.
  • Order, review, and interpret X-rays and other diagnostic studies to support clinical decision-making.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans for fractures, sprains, strains, sports injuries, and other musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Perform splinting, casting, bracing, wound care, laceration repair, suture and staple placement/removal, injections, and fracture management within scope of practice.
  • Prescribe medications and therapies in accordance with clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Counsel patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
  • Communicate with orthopedic surgeons and care teams regarding patient status, treatment plans, and concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including evaluations, procedures, and treatment outcomes.
  • Adhere to all clinical, safety, ethical, and regulatory standards.
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care in a fast-paced orthopedic urgent care environment.
