About The Position
Physician Assistants (PAs) are academically and clinically educated medical generalists who practice medicine within a formalized relationship with a Physician. Regulated by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS), PAs collect and interpret medical information, make appropriate clinical decisions, and carry out diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a formalized Physician/PA relationship agreement approved by the CPSS. This role presents a unique opportunity for those interested in combining clinical practice with academic leadership. The University of Saskatchewan’s College of Medicine is currently recruiting for an academic position to complement this role. Requirements
- Completion of an accredited PA degree program recognized by PACCC
- Physician Assistant - Certified (PA-C) through the NCCPA.
- Membership and Licensure in good standing with the CPSS as a PA; or Canadian Certified Physician Assistant (CCPA) through PACCC
- Eligible for registration with CPSS (for applicants outside of Saskatchewan).
- Demonstrated written and spoken competence in English language
- Ability to treat patients with compassion and empathy
- Commitment to quality, safety, and improvement striving towards zero harm
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
- Exemplifies ethical practices, professionalism and personal integrity
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate (ACLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (PALS)
- Current ATLS Certification (Advanced Trauma Life Support)
Nice To Haves
- Clinical experience working as a PA in a related clinical field, is an asset
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certificate (ACLS) an asset
- Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (PALS) an asset
- Current ATLS Certification (Advanced Trauma Life Support), is an asset
Responsibilities
- Collect and interpret medical information
- Make appropriate clinical decisions
- Carry out diagnostic and therapeutic interventions within a formalized Physician/PA relationship agreement approved by the CPSS
- May provide services to acute and long term care sites as required
- Standby may be required
- Travel within Saskatchewan
