About The Position

Summit Orthopedics is seeking a casual Physician Assistant (PA) to work in an orthopedic urgent care setting. This role involves practicing medicine with physician supervision, conducting examinations, writing prescriptions, and providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. The PA will also be involved in patient education, research, and administrative services. This is a casual position that requires flexibility to float to various Orthopedic Urgent Care locations based on need. The role will provide coverage during the day and participate in an evening/holiday rotation, with variable shift lengths. Providers working in non-Summit locations may need to meet specific vaccination or exemption requirements set by those locations.

Requirements

  • Practices medicine with physician supervision in an orthopedic urgent care setting.
  • Conducts examinations and writes prescriptions.
  • Exercises autonomy in medical decision making and provides a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Float to various locations based on needs of Orthopedic Urgent Care locations.
  • Provide coverage during the day while also being part of an evening/holiday rotation.
  • Conducts physical exams, taking medical history, image interpretation and patient evaluation/care.
  • Consults with physician as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated cases or cases that are not a routine part of an APP’s scope of work.
  • Orders diagnostic tests and scans and prescribes medications.
  • Administer injections, participate in suture and dressing removal and manage simple fracture management/cast application and removal.
  • Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems.
  • Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
  • Establishes activity and work restrictions and/or return to work plans.
  • Counsels patient/family on preventive health care, including pre- and post- operative education.
  • Documents patient information and care in medical record.
