Casual Medical Assistant Urgent Care
About The Position
Nemours is seeking a Medical Assistant (MA) to join our Urgent Care department. The MA is an important liaison between the patient/family, provider, and other care team members. The MA is responsible for coordinating patient flow by assisting in clinical data collection and review for patient intake, ensuring the appropriate information is available to the provider, and entering pertinent history in the medical record. The MA performs and assists with clinical procedures in accordance with divisional/department responsibilities as directed by the provider and per protocol.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required
- Must obtain BLS through AHA within 90 days
- Completion of a certified Medical Assistant program or MA certification required
- Acceptable certifications are Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) and Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), National Healthcare Association (NHA)
- Basic clinical and administrative skills (Medical Assistant I)
- Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant (Medical Assistant II)
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or certification as a medical assistant through an alternate pathway (Medical Assistant II)
- Demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative tasks (Medical Assistant II)
- Requires 5+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant (Medical Assistant III)
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required (Medical Assistant III)
- Advanced clinical and administrative skills (Medical Assistant III)
Responsibilities
- Coordinating patient flow by assisting in clinical data collection and review for patient intake
- Ensuring the appropriate information is available to the provider
- Entering pertinent history in the medical record
- Performing and assisting with clinical procedures in accordance with divisional/department responsibilities as directed by the provider and per protocol
- Mentor and train new Medical Assistants (Medical Assistant II)
- Serves as a coach, preceptor, and mentor to new medical assistant associates (Medical Assistant III)
- Involvement in quality improvement initiatives and advanced patient care (Medical Assistant III)
