About The Position
NextCare Urgent Care is hiring a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner for its Waco–Hewitt clinic. The role involves treating patients of all ages in a fast-paced urgent care setting, with clinical autonomy, support from experienced clinical teams, clear practice guidelines, and access to medical leadership. Providers typically work three 12-hour shifts per week. Schedules are released in advance, and the position has no after-hours work. Compensation is competitive hourly pay plus a productivity bonus, and a full benefits package is available.
Requirements
- Active, unrestricted Texas license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
- Physician Assistants must have NCCPA certification.
- Nurse Practitioners must have ANCC or AANP certification; FNP certification is required.
- Active DEA license or ability to obtain one.
- Ability to treat patients of all ages.
- Active BLS certification.
- EHR proficiency.
- Willingness to work rotating weekends and holidays.
- DOT certification or willingness to obtain it; fees are covered per policy.
Nice To Haves
- Prior urgent care, emergency medicine, or fast-track experience.
- Strong procedural skills, including suturing, splinting, wound care, and I&D.
- Experience with initial X-ray interpretation prior to radiology over-read.
- Comfort working independently in a busy urgent care environment.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages in an urgent care setting.
- Manage acute illnesses, injuries, and occupational health visits.
- Order and interpret diagnostic studies, including labs, X-rays, and EKGs.
- Perform urgent care procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, and I&D, as applicable.
- Clearly communicate diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Document patient care accurately and efficiently in the EHR.
- Code and bill services appropriately.
- Maintain productivity consistent with urgent care benchmarks.
- Practice in alignment with NextCare clinical standards and values.
