About The Position

UPMC Community Medicine Incorporated is hiring a Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner to help support Northern Gastroenterology. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) with Northern Gastroenterology works closely with their supervising physician to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across both outpatient and inpatient settings. In the outpatient office, the APP manages their own patient schedule, evaluates patients, and develops comprehensive care plans to address a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions. The role also includes rotating inpatient hospital rounds at UPMC Passavant, providing the opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary care teams and participate in the management of acutely ill GI patients. This position offers a unique blend of autonomy, teamwork, and continuity of care throughout the patient journey. Northern Gastroenterology is a rapidly growing gastroenterology specialty practice and serves as UPMC's primary GI provider in the northern region. The practice continues to experience significant growth, with the addition of a new physician, a new Advanced Practice Provider (APP), and the opening of a new satellite location in 2026. Requirements

Full-Time Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner
Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP): The successful completion of an approved nurse practitioner program is required
Current state RN license and CRNP certification are required
National certification, eligible for licensure by Pennsylvania board of nursing, eligible for certification as a CRNP by Pennsylvania state board of nursing
Current CPR certification is required
Act 34 Clearance required
Physician Assistant (PA): A graduate of a physician assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the physician assistant (ARC-PA) is required
Current state PA license certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required
Current CPR certification is required
Act 34 Clearance required
Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families
Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment
Handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment
Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care

Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and lead others in application of acceptable standards of practice
Mobility and visual manual dexterity
Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients
This position is dependent upon successful attainment and maintenance of hospital privileges, if applicable to the Business Unit practice.

Nice To Haves

BSN, MSN is preferred
Professional nursing experience and/or nurse practitioner experience is preferred
BS or MS candidate is preferred
Experience as a physician assistant and/or experience in a clinical setting is preferred
