Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Orthopedic Outpatient Surgery- Milford, MA
About The Position
UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks an experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing Orthopedics team in Milford, MA. This full-time position offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The role involves providing comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine care for adolescent and adult patients, managing both new consultations and follow-up visits, including post-operative care. Responsibilities include performing cortisone injections, basic office-based procedures, evaluating and managing various orthopedic conditions, and interpreting diagnostic imaging. The ideal candidate will develop treatment plans, coordinate patient care, manage prescriptions, and respond to patient communications. This role requires collaboration with a team of six orthopedic physicians while maintaining an independent patient panel.
Requirements
- A Masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
- Eligible or current Massachusetts license, with national certification (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, as applicable)
- Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
- Demonstrated ability to manage an independent patient panel
- Strong communication, clinical assessment, and patient education skills with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care
Nice To Haves
- A minimum of 1–2 years of APP experience in a clinical practice setting is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine care for adolescent and adult patients
- Conduct new patient consultations and follow-up visits
- Manage post-operative patient care
- Perform cortisone injections and basic office-based procedures
- Evaluate and manage fractures, joint conditions, sports injuries, and general orthopedic concerns
- Review diagnostic imaging, including basic X-ray interpretation
- Develop treatment plans and coordinate patient care
- Order and interpret laboratory and imaging studies
- Manage prescription refills and medication requests
- Respond to patient portal messages, telephone encounters, and in-basket communications
- Collaborate with a team of six orthopedic physicians while maintaining an independent patient panel
