About The Position

UMass Memorial Medical Group seeks experienced Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our growing team. This role involves providing comprehensive orthopedic and sports medicine care for adolescent and adult patients, conducting new patient consultations and follow-up visits, managing post-operative patient care, performing cortisone injections and basic office-based procedures, evaluating and managing fractures, joint conditions, sports injuries, and general orthopedic concerns. The position also includes reviewing diagnostic imaging (basic X-ray interpretation), developing treatment plans, coordinating patient care, ordering and interpreting laboratory and imaging studies, managing prescription refills and medication requests, and responding to patient portal messages, telephone encounters, and in-basket communications. The successful candidate will collaborate with a team of six orthopedic physicians while maintaining an independent patient panel.

Requirements

  • A Masters degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
  • Eligible or current Massachusetts license, with national certification (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, as applicable)
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage an independent patient panel
  • Strong communication, clinical assessment, and patient education skills with a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care

Nice To Haves

  • A minimum of 1–2 years of APP experience in a clinical practice setting is preferred.

Responsibilities
