This position assists medical staff with preparation, examination, and procedures in an outpatient orthopedic surgery setting. The Nurse Assistant I will be responsible for interviewing and screening patients, documenting information, and taking vital signs. They will also participate in the nursing process by providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Key duties include preparing and maintaining examination rooms, equipment, and treatment areas, ensuring accurate communication of patient information, collecting and processing specimens, and documenting all patient care in the medical record. The role also involves performing point-of-care testing, communicating effectively with the team, patients, and families, and taking initiative for professional growth. Patient care must be age and developmentally appropriate, and all actions must comply with Medical Center policies on infection prevention, mission, vision, values, and nursing philosophy.
