Orthopedic Spine Surgery Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
About The Position
As an Orthopedic Spine Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (APP; nurse practitioner or physician assistant) at Intermountain Health, you will work with a team of healthcare professionals committed to providing quality care and excellent patient experience. This position will support a growing practice of a fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon based at Utah Valley Hospital and Clinic. In this role you can anticipate: Practicing at Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Clinic in Provo, UT. Working 4x10's with a mix of OR and clinic days (Thursdays off). First-assisting in surgical cases, inpatient rounding, clinic new-patient and follow-up appointments, etc. Practice answering service to be shared with other providers (1:4); no ER call requirement.
Requirements
- APP OR experience
- Experience in neurosciences or orthopedics
- APRN or PA-C degree from an accredited program
- Active, unobstructed Utah medical license, or the ability to obtain one
- BLS certification
- DEA
- Ability to successfully complete Intermountain Health’s credentialing process
Responsibilities
- First-assisting in surgical cases
- Inpatient rounding
- Clinic new-patient and follow-up appointments
- Practice answering service to be shared with other providers (1:4)
- See and read information, labels
- Assess patient needs
- Operate monitors
- Identify equipment and supplies
- Verbally communicate with patient care providers, patients, and visitors
- Hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations
- Manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
- Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
- Obtain and distribute supplies and equipment
- Pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items
- Navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc)
- Stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
