About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our Internal Medicine Hospitalist team, working night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM. This role involves providing comprehensive care to patients within the THPG patient population and assigned setting, reporting to the supervising physician and/or Medical Director. The PA will be responsible for performing history and physical exams, providing follow-up and health maintenance care, initiating appropriate treatment and testing, counseling patients, documenting clinical care, and performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated. Effective communication with patients and family members, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and adherence to CME requirements are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Licensed as a physician assistant in the State of Texas and maintain such license in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience as a Physician Assistant is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical exams on new and established patients and those being seen for follow up appointments.
  • Consult with the supervising physician as needed.
  • Provide follow up and health maintenance care to patients in accordance with established protocols or specific instructions from the supervising physician.
  • Initiate appropriate treatment and testing required for evaluation of illness based on training and experience.
  • Provide counseling and instruction to patients regarding health related issues.
  • Document clinical care of the patient according to established guidelines.
  • Perform therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by training and experience and as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Communicate with patients and family members within state law confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines concerning health related questions.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement process and other initiatives in the area of employee’s practice.
