About The Position

New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant (PA) for its cardiothoracic surgery department, specifically for coverage in the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU). The CTICU PAs will work with a significant degree of autonomy, managing post-operative and critically ill cardiothoracic surgery patients. This includes managing patients on ECMO, mechanical ventilation, vasopressor support, and cardiac monitoring. There are future opportunities for first-assisting in the Operating Room (OR) with continued training and demonstrated competency. This position involves rotating shifts, including days, nights, and covering up to two weekends per month. The hospital is recognized as one of the top cardiovascular hospitals in the US, and its cardiothoracic surgeons are affiliated with Weill Cornell Medicine, performing a wide range of cardiac procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or Masters in Physician Assistant related studies
NYS PA Licensure
Current NCCPA Certification
ACLS/BLS
NYS Infection Control certification
DEA Certification with NYS Opioid Prescriber training compliance

Nice To Haves

Strong general surgical experience preferred.
Strong ICU experience preferred.
Strong cardiothoracic surgery experience preferred.

Responsibilities
