About The Position
This position involves providing direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician within the Cardiology department, primarily focusing on inpatient coverage with Southview Cardiologists. The role requires weekday and weekend shifts, with an expectation of being on call 1:4 or 1:5 to fulfill a full-time schedule. The work location is UAB St Vincent's Birmingham.
Requirements
- Licensed Physician Assistant credentialed from the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Advanced Life Support credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date.
- Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree preferred.
- 1 year of experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services under the supervision of a physician
- Obtains patient history and performs assessment.
- Orders, performs and interprets diagnostic procedures.
- Provides and documents direct treatment and management of health conditions.
- Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options and community resources.
- Performs preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations and care.
