About The Position

Innovations Academy is looking for a dynamic Special Education Teacher to join our team! Under the direction of the Principal, the Physical Education Teacher provides physical fitness training and health related programming to students with developmental and emotional disabilities. The Physical Education Teacher must be able to implement appropriate IEP goals, organize school recreational events and promote programming that will enable the students to reach their fullest educational potential while rebuilding their self-esteem. The ability to teach health and driver's education (classroom only) is preferred in order to provide credit opportunities for our students. This position may supervise the paraprofessional aides who accompany the students to the gymnasium.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is REQUIRED
LBS1 Endorsement REQUIRED
Candidates must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
Diplomacy and discretion are essential
Excellent organizational skills
Professional demeanor and appearance required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor's or Master's preferred
1-3 years experience in a therapeutic day school preferred with focus on health and fitness
