Physical Therapy Tech - Part Time Days

About The Position

Under direct supervision, performs skilled technical work to prepare patients and equipment for Physical Therapy treatment in the Rehabilitation Department and throughout the hospital, and assists with treatment as directed. The role also includes maintaining equipment, supply inventory, and department cleanliness. The position serves adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist.

Requirements

BCLS or ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

Prepare patients and set them up with treatment modalities, such as hot or cold packs; prepare equipment and supplies; and assist with safe transfers and positioning.
Assist with or provide physical therapy treatments, such as ultrasound, massage, gait training, and exercise programs, and document treatment as directed.
Follow infection-control procedures and clean techniques when preparing for, assisting with, or cleaning up after patient treatment.
Communicate appropriately according to the patient's age and status.
Monitor patients' condition, safety, and progress during treatment according to their age and status.
Promote positive relationships with patients, families, staff, and physicians.
Perform housekeeping responsibilities and keep Rehabilitation areas neat and orderly.
Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies in the department and outlying treatment areas.
Assist with the service and maintenance of department equipment.
Assist with clerical and other duties as assigned.
Evaluate the environment and make positive suggestions for change; seek a supervisor when appropriate.
Maintain medication security, allowing access only to authorized personnel.
Demonstrate a cost-conscious attitude.
