About The Position

This position involves performing physical therapy evaluations, interventions, documentation, and billing processes for routine and moderately complex cases. The resident will also complete pediatric residency requirements and assignments as outlined in the program manual. Responsibilities

  • Performs physical therapy evaluations, interventions, documentation, and billing processes according to established procedures for routine and moderately complex cases.
  • Completes pediatric residency requirements and assignments as outlined in the program manual.
  • Reviews information from all sources (chart, team report, patient evaluations, etc.) prior to initiating physical therapy treatment.
  • Completes a comprehensive physical therapy evaluation appropriate for the patient's age and developmental level to identify skilled physical therapy needs.
  • Establishes a plan of care and measurable goals appropriate for the clinical impairments identified at the evaluation, including patients and caregivers in the process.
  • Implements and modifies the treatment plan using appropriate modalities, interventions, and equipment.
  • Implements evidence-based practice into decision-making processes and seeks consultation from others as necessary.
  • Documents findings and recommendations from therapy sessions according to established policies and procedures in compliance with regulatory and reimbursement guidelines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of normal growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment appropriate for the patient's diagnosis or developmental stage.
  • Organizes patient and administrative time efficiently to meet productivity standards, ensuring all patient care for the section is completed daily.
  • Performs billing processes according to established department procedures.
  • Begins developing clinical expertise and professional skills through interactions with team members, self-study, and residency programming.
  • May serve as a mentor for observation students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and implementation of departmental policies and procedures, and specific patient treatment protocols regarding patient care.
  • Performs a case study and presentation for each primary module (acute main, acute south, inpatient rehab).
  • Provides in-services and participates in journal club to clinical staff as defined by the residency check-list.
  • Completes an administrative project and report per residency manual instructions.
  • Performs clinical teaching of entry-level physical therapy interns as assigned by residency faculty.
  • Communicates information clearly and concisely in a manner that is not offensive, helping others understand and retain the message, and utilizes active listening skills.
  • Commits to providing a positive patient experience by modeling Arkansas Children’s values to patients, families, guests, and team members.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
