The Orthopaedic Residency Program is designed to provide practicing therapists with advanced training in examination, clinical decision-making, and manual therapy techniques. The program runs 16 consecutive months (starting in August). Additionally, the program places an emphasis in utilizing research and the literature to maintain practice within the scope of evidence-based physical therapy. The program is funded by UPMC Rehabilitation Institute and housed within two out-patient clinics. The UPMC Freddie Fu Center for Sports Medicine is our primary location and the UPMC Lemieux Sports Medicine Center is a second location. The program has been designed to advance the competent physical therapist through education, research and professional service into a board-certified clinical specialist in the area of orthopaedic physical therapy. This is a 16 month residency.
