About The Position

D’Youville University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, with specialization in neurologic physical therapy and interest in contributing to the clinical education curriculum. This faculty position will support teaching, curriculum development, and shared governance within a CAPTE-accredited program. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Faculty in the Physical Therapy Department contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the DPT curriculum within a collaborative, shared-governance model.

Requirements

  • Eligible for licensure as a Physical Therapist in New York State
  • Earned Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (DPT) plus advanced specialty certification or a research/academic doctorate (NCS, PhD, EdD, DSc, etc.)
  • Minimum of five years of clinical experience, including student supervision
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal, written, and verbal communication
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining currency in neurologic practice and clinical education principles
  • Ability to create culturally responsive, inclusive learning environments
  • Skill in collaborative teamwork and navigating diverse perspectives productively
  • Experience using innovative, evidence-based teaching and learning strategies
  • Ability to support accreditation processes and continuous program improvement efforts

Responsibilities

  • Teaching in the neurologic area of practice and contributing to the broader curriculum as appropriate
  • Assisting the Director of Clinical Education in delivering high-quality clinical education experiences and applying best practices in clinical teaching
  • Developing, updating, and evaluating course materials and participating in assessment of student learning
  • Supporting student success through advising, mentorship, and regular office hours
  • Engaging with clinical partners, the Simulation Center, and the Thrive Rehabilitation Center to enhance experiential learning
  • Participating in department, school, and university committees, including Faculty Senate representation
  • Contributing to scholarship consistent with the Boyer Model, including teaching, integration, application, discovery, and engagement
