About The Position

FeldCare Connects is seeking a self-motivated Physical Therapy Assistant to provide home healthcare to patients of all ages in the Ridgecrest area. This is an independent contractor position within FeldCare Connects’ app-based network, which connects partner agencies with therapists and provides software and resources to support efficient patient care.

The Physical Therapy Assistant addresses patients’ needs related to mobility, pain reduction, restoring function, and preventing disability. Working from the treatment plan established through the Physical Therapist’s assessment and evaluation, the assistant carries out interventions, supports patient wellbeing, and evaluates progress. The role involves coordinating with other members of the healthcare team and providing instruction to patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

• Ability and enthusiasm to work with patients of all ages.
• Physical Therapy Assistant license and registration by the state.
• Completion of a Physical Therapy Assistant curriculum approved by the American Physical Therapy Association, the Council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, or the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide services permitted by state laws governing Physical Therapy Assistants, in accordance with the plan of care and in coordination with other healthcare team members.
• Help patients use therapeutic, creative, and self-care activities to improve functioning and safety.
• Observe, record, and report patients’ responses to treatment and changes in their condition.
• Instruct patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare team members in therapy activities they can participate in to assist the patient.
• Carry out interventions aimed at improving and enhancing patient wellbeing and evaluate patient progress.
