About The Position

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, this role provides physical therapy services to patients needing to develop, recover, and maintain physical mobility/function. The Physical Therapy Assistant implements treatment plans developed by the supervising therapist using appropriate modalities, monitors patient responses, and communicates progress and potential goal revisions. This role also involves educating patients and their families/caregivers about patient deficits, assisting with discharge planning, and providing information on adaptive equipment and community support programs.

Requirements

Associate’s degree Required; Graduate of a Program in Discipline Required
Physical Therapy Assistant in the State
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Physical Therapist, provide physical therapy services to patients needing to develop, recover and maintain physical mobility/function.
Implement treatment plan developed by supervising therapist using appropriate modalities.
Seek consultation as necessary.
Monitor patient's responses to the treatment plan.
Regularly communicate patient progress and possible goal revisions to the physical therapist.
Document services provided and patient response/progress.
Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
Assist with patient discharge planning.
Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and community support programs.
