About The Position

Inova Specialty Hospital is seeking a Physical Therapist to provide inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Physical Therapists provide compassionate treatment throughout patients’ recovery. The hospital offers an extensive orientation program to support the transition into this setting and describes potential advancement opportunities. The position is full time in Alexandria, Virginia, with compensation of $36 per hour.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Physical Therapist.
• Certified BLS, or completion within the first 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial and ongoing systematic patient assessments.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Set goals and develop treatment plans.
• Work cooperatively to identify and solve patient-specific and facility-wide needs.
• Participate in discharge planning for each patient, including placement, patient and family education, and adaptive equipment.
• Supervise Physical Therapy Assistants and PT and PTA students.
• Conduct individual patient therapy regimens.
• Monitor patients’ responses to treatment and modify treatment during sessions as needed.
• Complete appropriate documentation according to department policies and procedures.
• Participate in departmental, hospital, and community continuing education seminars and in-services.
