About The Position

Orlando Health Lake Mary Hospital is a new 124-bed acute-care hospital located in Seminole County, Florida, offering a full complement of services including inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation services, cardiovascular care, general surgery, orthopedics, and obstetrics. The Inpatient & Outpatient Rehab Department provides rehabilitation services for a wide range of needs, including hip fracture, joint replacement, sports medicine, stroke, traumatic brain injury, cardiac surgery, and oncology/lymphedema rehabilitation. The inpatient Acute Care Therapy team includes specialized therapists for various conditions such as Oncology/Lymphedema, Neurological Conditions, Stroke, Orthopedics, Limb Loss, and Multiple Traumas. Outpatient services are available at a clinic in Longwood, FL. This position is for PRN/Pool status, requiring approximately 20 hours per month, including at least one weekend shift and one major/minor holiday annually. Preferred availability is on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but other days may be needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an approved program in physical therapy.
  • Current Physical Therapist license in the State of Florida—renewed every two years.
  • Must maintain CPR certification.
  • Continuing Education as required by State Practice Act.

Responsibilities

  • Works with patients who have impairments, limitations, disabilities, or changes in physical function and health status resulting from injury, disease or other causes.
  • Examines, evaluates, diagnoses, and intervenes with patients to achieve the highest functional outcomes.
  • Gathers data from patients, physicians, interdisciplinary teams, family, and other sources for patient evaluations.
  • Develops treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care and include specific goals and objectives.
  • Treats patients according to the developed treatment plans.
  • Demonstrates competency in the use, care, and maintenance of profession-specific equipment, observing safety precautions and providing explanations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care for patients on the assigned caseload.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plans and goals as necessary.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span.
  • Assesses and interprets patient status data to identify age-specific needs.
  • Provides care in accordance with unit/area/department policies and procedures.
  • Recognizes and communicates when a patient has received optimal benefit from physical therapy.
  • Adheres to State Practice Act and Standards of Practice.
  • Ensures complete documentation and accurate billing.
  • Provides patient/family education as indicated.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
