About The Position

Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides specialized care for patients with complex multiple trauma, stroke, brain injury, and other needs, including physical and speech therapy. Inpatient care is available at Memorial Regional Hospital South; outpatient care is provided at five locations. The system also has a home health team, long-term care resources at Memorial Manor, and pediatric therapy through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patients’ physical therapy needs. The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment while taking appropriate action. No prior work experience is required.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited physical therapy program.
Current Florida Physical Therapist license.
A qualifying BLS credential from the American Heart Association or Red Cross, or the listed employee grace-period credential.
Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

Plan or assist with patient discharge from therapy services.
Educate and counsel patients and families about treatment plans and progress.
Provide information about selecting and using adaptive equipment and support resources.
Perform and document initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
Supervise physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
Design and implement an appropriate plan of care based on identified issues and required treatment frequency, involving the patient and family.
