About The Position

Memorial Rehabilitation Institute provides highly specialized care for patients with complex multiple trauma, stroke, brain injury, and other therapy needs. Inpatient care is offered at Memorial Regional Hospital South, with outpatient services at five locations, as well as home health, long-term care resources at Memorial Manor, and pediatric therapy through Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital. The Physical Therapist evaluates and treats patient populations for physical therapy needs. The role requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, minimal supervision, and the ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. No prior work experience is required.

Requirements

Completion of an accredited Physical Therapy program.
Physical Therapist license from the State of Florida.
BLS certification from an accepted provider or credentialing option: American Heart Association BLS E-Card, American Heart Association BLS RQI E-Card, American Heart Association BLS certification, BLS Grace employee grace period, or Red Cross BLS certification.
Critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.
Ability to work with minimal supervision and in a stressful environment, and to take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

Plan or assist with patient discharge from therapy services.
Educate and counsel patients and families regarding treatment plans and progress.
Provide information regarding appropriate selection and use of adaptive equipment and support resources.
Perform and document initial and ongoing assessments of patients’ conditions.
Supervise activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support personnel.
Design and implement a plan of care appropriate to identified issues and required treatment frequency, involving the patient and family.
