About The Position
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, assisting in restoring function and improving mobility. This role is part of the Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center – McNair Campus in Houston, a newly relaunched 30-bed inpatient rehab center designed to support patients recovering from serious conditions like stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, complex neurological disorders, amputation, and orthopedic injury. The unit is operated by Lifepoint Rehabilitation, a major manager of hospital-based acute rehab units in the U.S. The hospital operates 24/7, ensuring continuous care and support. As a PTA joining this team, you will contribute to a vital mission dedicated to making communities healthier, making a remarkable difference in the lives of those served.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree from a PTA program.
- Current PTA license in state of practice.
- CPR certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Rehab or acute care experience preferred.
- Team-oriented and patient-focused with strong communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Administer physical therapy interventions as directed by the supervising PT.
- Assist in patient mobility and exercise routines.
- Monitor patient responses and report progress to PT.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for treatment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
