About The Position

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) provides treatment according to the plan established by the Physical Therapist (PT) for patients with varying diagnoses. The PTA assists the PT in assessing and treating deficits involving posture, locomotion, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility, flexibility, pain, and functional abilities in daily living. The PTA also instructs and educates patients and caregivers to promote the safe execution of taught facilitation techniques.

Requirements

• Current Physical Therapist Assistant license or Physical Therapist Assistant Licensed Applicant status from the State of California.
• Current CPR recognition.
• Demonstrated technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills, and sensitivity toward patients and families.
• Clinical skills and knowledge to achieve desired outcomes for assigned patients.
• Ability to provide treatment addressing patients’ practical and realistic needs and goals.
• Ability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

• One year of experience in acute care, extended care, rehabilitation, mental health, or an outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Provide treatment following the plan established by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist the Physical Therapist with assessment and treatment of patient deficits affecting posture, locomotion, strength, endurance, balance, coordination, joint mobility, flexibility, pain, and daily living abilities.
• Instruct and educate patients and caregivers to promote safe execution of taught facilitation techniques.
