About The Position

The Physical Security Coordinator I is responsible for coordinating and implementing security measures to protect an organization's physical assets, employees, and visitors. They assist in developing and maintaining security policies and procedures, conducting risk assessments, and implementing security measures such as access control systems, CCTV surveillance, and alarm systems. They also collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with security regulations and provide training and guidance to employees on security protocols. The Physical Security Coordinator I may also be involved in incident response and investigations related to physical security breaches or threats.

Requirements

  • Experience with access control systems, including key cards, key fobs, card readers, and user access administration.
  • Experience with perimeter security systems, alarm systems, and basic physical security monitoring practices.
  • Knowledge of physical security equipment such as cameras, DVRs/NVRs, intrusion detection devices, door contacts, and related hardware.
  • Basic understanding of physical security principles, safety procedures, emergency response practices, and facility protection standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot routine physical security issues and escalate more complex technical or operational concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential or sensitive security information with discretion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with associates, vendors, contractors, and internal departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and respond effectively to changing needs or urgent security-related issues.
  • Ability to follow established policies, procedures, standards, and regulatory expectations applicable to the Bank.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to learn specialized physical security software platforms.
  • Position may require on-call or non-business-hour availability to support alarm response, security system issues, or other physical security needs.

Nice To Haves

  • 1–2 years of experience in law enforcement, military service, physical security, security operations, facilities security, or a technology-related related field is preferred.
  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, or a related field, or equivalent law enforcement and/or physical security-related work experience.
  • Training or experience with perimeter security equipment, access control systems, alarm systems, or video surveillance systems.
  • Experience supporting physical security systems in a financial institution, corporate environment, campus environment, or multi-site organization.
  • Familiarity with security system service requests, work orders, vendor coordination, and issue tracking.
  • Familiarity with physical security assessments, security awareness practices, and incident documentation.
  • Knowledge of access control reporting, alarm zone lists, after-hours call procedures, and security credential lifecycle management.
  • Ability to read basic security system documentation, floor plans, device lists, or equipment inventories.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the physical security of Bank facilities, including perimeter access, alarms, access control activity, and related security systems.
  • Ensure physical security equipment, including access control devices, cameras, DVRs/NVRs, alarm panels, door contacts, and related systems, remains in good working order by monitoring performance, identifying issues, and coordinating timely resolution.
  • Maintain associate access for Bank facilities, including adding, modifying, and removing access permissions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Monitor associate card access activity and assist with reviewing exceptions, unauthorized access attempts, bad PIN entries, and other access-related alerts or reports.
  • Issue, track, and maintain records for physical keys, key fobs, access cards, and other security credentials, including adding and deleting users from applicable security systems.
  • Monitor alarms and assist with alarm testing, alarm response coordination, after-hours alarm issues, and communication with internal stakeholders or external monitoring providers as needed.
  • Troubleshoot routine physical security system issues and determine whether matters can be resolved internally or require escalation to management, internal support teams, or external security vendors.
  • Support physical security equipment upgrades, repairs, installations, inspections, and preventive maintenance activities by coordinating with internal departments, facilities teams, contractors, and vendors.
  • Assist with branch and facility security assessments by gathering information, documenting observations, and supporting follow-up activities as directed.
  • Support the implementation of established physical security policies, procedures, standards, and emergency readiness practices.
  • Assist with security awareness efforts and provide basic guidance to associates regarding access control, alarm procedures, opening and closing procedures, and proper use of security equipment.
  • Respond to security-related phone calls, emails, work orders, and service requests in a timely and professional manner based on priority and established procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records, logs, reports, and documentation related to access control, alarm activity, keys, equipment, service requests, and other physical security activities.
  • Support physical security projects and special assignments by gathering data, coordinating routine tasks, and assisting with documentation and follow-up.
  • Remain available for after-hours or non-business-hour support for alarm issues or other physical security matters as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
