About The Position

The University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS) is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Physician for the University of Maryland Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute (UM Rehab & Ortho). UM Rehab & Ortho is the largest provider of inpatient rehabilitation care in the state of Maryland and is a Just Culture Organization with a strong tradition in quality improvement, patient safety, and leadership development. This role involves providing inpatient PM&R coverage for patients with stroke and other rehabilitation-related diagnoses, including neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and multi-trauma. The position is primarily inpatient with two half-days of physiatry clinic for patient follow-ups. It offers a good work/life balance with a manageable weekend call rotation (1:6), and acute medical issues are covered by in-house hospitalists. The physician will join a collaborative team of rehabilitation professionals and has the option for an academic appointment and teaching opportunities.

Requirements

  • Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
  • Possesses and maintains current Board Certification or eligibility within practicing specialty required.
  • Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
  • Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
  • Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide PM&R - inpatient coverage for patients with stroke and other rehab related diagnosis.
  • Provide coverage to inpatients with stroke, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, multi-trauma and other rehab-related diagnoses.
  • Conduct physiatry clinic for follow-up on patients with rehabilitation needs.
