About The Position

Woburn Public Schools is seeking a Physical Education Teacher to report directly to the Principal. The ideal candidate will collaborate with district personnel to deliver high-quality instruction to a diverse student population, fostering a safe, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environment with high expectations for all students.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
  • Current Massachusetts's DESE Certification in Physical Education.
  • At least 3 years of experience teaching elementary PE.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with students in Special Education programs.

  • Employs a variety of teaching methods to engage different learning styles and ability levels.
  • Prepares motivating and stimulating lessons that reflect knowledge of the curriculum, child development, and student abilities.
  • Encourages an inclusive classroom that accepts different perspectives and backgrounds, fostering a greater understanding of the world with a global perspective.
  • Utilizes a variety of assessments and uses data to develop lessons and instructional activities.
  • Updates curriculum and materials as needed.
  • Creates a motivating and age-appropriate learning environment with clear expectations for classwork and homework.
  • Maintains current books and instructional resources.
  • Seeks to actively know students’ strengths and weaknesses and responds promptly and with care to parent concerns.
  • Communicates effectively with parents, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Maintains an accurate and organized system for monitoring student grades and records.
  • Meets reporting deadlines and requirements and follows school-wide procedures for reporting grades.
  • Prepares well-thought-out and thorough conference reports and written documentation on student progress.
  • Maintains daily and weekly plans.
  • Demonstrates strong classroom management skills.
