About The Position

Hope Partnership for Education is an independent middle school and education center that provides a high quality, values-based education that supports and challenges students from adolescence to adulthood. Serving the Hartranft/Fairhill section of North Philadelphia, Hope was founded and endorsed by the Society of the Holy Child Jesus and the Sisters of Mercy in June, 2002. This position is responsible for providing physical health and education instruction to 5th - 8th graders. The goal is to inspire and instruct students to stay fit, challenge them to meet goals and to begin a lifelong commitment to health and good fitness habits.

Requirements

• College degree in the appropriate field
• Strong organizational and management skills
• Record of good attendance
• Ability to be flexible in an ever-changing environment
• Possess some athletic skill in order to demonstrate activity
• Be a vocal and outgoing person who is good at motivating middle school students

Responsibilities

• Plan and teach physical education classes at multiple grade levels
• Follow classroom routines and procedures to maintain appropriate atmosphere for learning
• Adherence to school regulations related to attendance, punctuality, maintaining accurate records, communicating with families
• Participate in school events, professional growth and development opportunities
• Monitor students in lunchroom, gym, and hallways during individual duty periods
• Encourage students to adopt healthy eating habits in accordance with school nutrition policies
• Teach and model conflict resolution skills
• Maintain the equipment and facilities
