About The Position

Prairie Crossing Charter School (PCCS) is seeking a Physical Education Teacher with a PE endorsement or related experience for the 2026-2027 school year. Requirements

  • K-9 (Type 03) Certificate w/PE Endorsement or PE Certified or equivalent
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
  • Knowledge of K-8 PE curriculum and concepts.
  • Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

  • An Environmental/Outdoor Education background is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and administers Physical Education curriculum consistent with district goals and objectives.
  • Teaches class based on the Illinois Learning Standards, Standards for Education for Sustainability, and National Health Education Standards.
  • Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates them into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to meet individual student needs, including students with special needs.
  • Conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other specified subject matters.
  • Continues to acquire professional knowledge and stay current with educational developments through seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or research.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate record-keeping, grading, and reporting for student activities, achievements, and attendance.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensures students' conduct conforms with school standards and district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
  • Coordinates with other professional staff, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum.
  • Participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and other supplies and equipment, and maintains inventory records.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by Deans and other central office administrators.
