About The Position

Educates and nurtures students in a Chinese immersion environment following Yinghua Academy’s mission, core values, and principles. The Physical Education Teacher promotes lifelong physical wellness, teamwork, sportsmanship, and healthy habits by providing engaging and developmentally appropriate physical education instruction for students in grades K–8.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in Physical Education (K–12), or has the ability to obtain licensure through the Professional Educator Licensing & Standards Board.
  • Prior teaching experience in Physical Education preferred, ideally in a K–8 setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students and foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment.
  • Ability to use technology as an instructional and organizational tool.
  • Must meet all employment requirements including, but not limited to, criminal background checks and reference checks.

Nice To Haves

  • Holds a valid Minnesota teaching license in Health (K–12), or has the ability to obtain licensure through the Professional Educator Licensing & Standards Board (Preferred)
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Plans and delivers standards-based physical education instruction that promotes physical fitness, movement skills, teamwork, and healthy lifestyles.
  • Develops students’ physical abilities, coordination, self-confidence, and appreciation for physical activity and wellness.
  • Adapts instruction and activities to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
  • Conducts student assessments in various forms to monitor participation, skill development, and progress.
  • Works collaboratively with administration, classroom teachers, and specialists to support student success and school-wide initiatives.
  • Supports and supervises school-wide activities, events, and programs related to physical education and wellness as assigned.
  • Prepares and regularly submits curriculum pacing and lesson plans aligned with Minnesota Physical Education standards and school expectations.
  • Maintains organized instructional materials and equipment to support effective programming.
  • Participates in all scheduled professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Follows school-wide behavioral and safety guidelines and policies.
  • Establishes and maintains clear expectations for student behavior in the gymnasium and other activity spaces.
  • Ensures proper use, care, and storage of physical education equipment and materials.
  • Maintains safety standards during all physical activities and transitions.
  • Seeks guidance from administration and instructional leaders on behavior and classroom management strategies as needed.
  • Maintains accurate student records and proper documentation.
  • Prepares progress reports and completes evaluations as applicable.
  • Attends all required safety and health training.
  • Follows all school policies and protocols.
  • Actively participates in grade-level, specialist, and staff meetings.
  • Communicates expectations for student participation, behavior, and physical activity.
  • Maintains effective communication with parents and guardians in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supports school communication platforms and updates as needed.
  • Conducts parent-teacher conferences as scheduled.
  • Reads all school communication and responds to emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Upholds professional and ethical standards in all interactions, maintaining confidentiality and respect in all matters, including student-related information and sensitive organizational topics.
  • Models and encourages all behavior outlined by the Board-approved Professional Conduct Policy.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all areas related to students.
  • Demonstrates reliability and good judgment.
  • Participates in required training and ongoing relevant professional development.
