About The Position

Partnerships to Uplift Communities (PUC) Schools is comprised of a non-profit network of public charter schools designed to significantly increase high school graduation rates, college entrance, and college graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles, and the North-East San Fernando Valley. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Possess a valid California Adapted Physical Education Specialist Credential and a valid prerequisite teaching credential (Special Education Credential, Single Subject Physical Education Credential or Multiple Subject Credential)
  • Solid knowledge of the subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and ability to learn Welligent
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to analyze qualitative and quantitative student data, adapt and modify as required

  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in subject matter field or Education is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fosters a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Continuously builds professional knowledge
  • Collaborates and coordinates directly with both Inclusion Specialists and PE teachers regularly at PUC School sites
  • Organizes support provision systems/procedures and manages student behavior to ensure all students are fully engaged in learning during services or in class when providing push in
  • Provides APE services to each student as prescribed in the IEP
  • Develops and maintains APE PLPs and goals for IEPs
  • Provides continual assessment of student progress, maintain student records and portfolios, and complete assigned paperwork in provided time frames , including progress monitoring inputs 4x/year
  • Tracks provision of APE services according to guidance weekly, by end of day Friday each week
  • Conducts required evaluations for Initial and Triennial IEPs relating to motor abilities and APE needs
  • Participates in all IEP Team meetings for students requiring or transitioning out of APE services
  • Builds strong relationships with students and parents
  • Communicates with parents/guardians as needed
  • Identifies student's areas for improvement and is able to work with the student and family and internal resources to suggest options for improvement
  • Participates in monthly meetings/development with PUC Department of Special Education (“PUC Special Education Support Team”)
  • Works with Director of Inclusion and Special Education to develop and grow the APE offerings and programs across PUC Schools
  • Performs disseminated leadership duties
  • Attends and implements professional development training throughout and beyond the school year
  • Demonstrates support and knowledge of schools’ goals and mission
  • Detail oriented when tracking students' attendance, progress, etc.
  • Works with the Director of Inclusion & Special Education to ensure methods are directed towards meeting and surpassing the standards
  • Attends and participates in org-based meetings and activities
  • Regular attendance, dependability and, punctuality in conformance with the standards are essential to the successful performance of this position
  • Perform other duties as assigned
