About The Position

Monroe Public Schools is seeking a dynamic and student-centered High School Health/Physical Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop lifelong habits of physical fitness, wellness, and healthy decision-making through engaging instruction, positive relationships, and a commitment to student success.

Requirements

  • A valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with the appropriate and required endorsements for Health and Physical Education.
  • Must meet Highly Qualified requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully with parents/guardians to support student growth and achievement.
  • A willingness to commit to ongoing professional development and continuous improvement.

  • Ability to design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction in both Health and Physical Education.
  • Knowledge of current best practices in physical fitness, health education, and student wellness.
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

  • Experience utilizing a variety of instructional strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Ability to motivate students to develop healthy lifestyles, physical fitness goals, and positive decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, colleagues, and administrators.
  • Experience integrating technology into instruction and assessment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement effective Health and Physical Education lessons aligned with Michigan Academic Standards.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely feedback and support.
  • Promote physical fitness, personal wellness, and healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Foster positive relationships with students while maintaining high expectations for behavior and achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, counselors, administrators, and families to support student success.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities, staff meetings, and district initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee.
