About The Position

Turning Point Academy is seeking an anticipated Physical Education and Health Teacher for a ten (10) month position. This role is part of the Educational Services for the Middlesex County Juvenile Detention Center. The teacher will be responsible for creating a sound and meaningful educational climate, planning and executing learning activities based on student IEP/ISIP, and ensuring student progress. This includes providing compensatory education, supplemental instruction, corrective speech or language instruction, and/or English as a Second Language or special education classes. The teacher will establish efficient management techniques for effective operations and ensure the health and safety of students.

Requirements

  • NJDOE - Health & Physical Education Certified
  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • New Jersey State Department of Education Certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional services to assigned students, including analysis and assessment of student needs.
  • Schedule assigned students.
  • Develop and implement individual student educational plans.
  • Prepare written student progress reports as required.
  • Provide parent/guardian conferences as needed.
  • Coordinate and communicate student progress to program administrators, nonpublic school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and sending resident district staff.
  • Demonstrate a variety of teaching strategies in relation to student learning styles.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport and classroom management to enhance student behavior.
  • Maintain professional competence, confidentiality, and a willingness to improve performance.
  • Participate in curricula programs to enhance student learning.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with administrative directives, procedures, regulations, and Board Policies.
  • Provide specialized instructional services as mandated by law.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
