About The Position

The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are seeking two full-time physiatrists (MD/DO) with interests in spine, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine for their growing department. These positions offer opportunities for teaching in top-ranked residency and fellowship programs, as well as basic science and clinical research opportunities and collaborations within a robustly funded program. The large department and healthcare system provide ample opportunities for candidates to explore their academic and clinical interests. UPMC aims to provide outstanding patient care and shape tomorrow's health system, seeking physiatrists to expand capacity in caring for spine and musculoskeletal disorders through innovative, multidisciplinary clinics focused on comprehensive care and population health models.

Requirements

  • Board certified/eligible in PM&R.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong teaching skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • For Assistant Professor level: less than 5 years of experience.
  • For Associate Professor level: minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • For Full Professor level: minimum of 10 years of experience.
  • For tenure stream appointment: evidence of scholarly productivity including teaching and academic service, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition.

  • Demonstrated scholarly productivity in research, teaching, and/or administrative leadership and service for Associate Professor level.
  • Ability to demonstrate attainment of superior stature and national/international reputation in their field of knowledge for Full Professor level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care in spine, sports, and musculoskeletal medicine.
  • Teach in residency and fellowship programs.

  • Demonstrate scholarly productivity (research, teaching, administrative leadership, service) for tenure track appointments.
