About The Position

Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing is seeking a physiatrist to join its dynamic, interdisciplinary rehabilitation team. This is a collaborative department of 11 physiatrists with a four-year PM&R Residency Program. The role will primarily involve outpatient work with some inpatient responsibilities, including spasticity management, muscular skeletal ultrasound, electromyography, and joint and trigger point injections. This position is ideal for physiatrists with an academic or teaching background, and OMT manipulation is a plus. The on-call requirement is approximately 1:10 weeks for weekend coverage, with significant growth potential for the selected candidate. Candidates must be BC/BE in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Rehabilitation Hospital, opened in 2009, is a state-of-the-art facility featuring a 174,000-square-foot, three-story building. It includes a 61-bed Acute Rehabilitation Center with an 11-bed secured Brain Injury Unit, a 50-bed Subacute rehabilitation unit, an aquatic therapy pool, an outdoor therapy garden with a putting green, an on-site pharmacy, and radiological services. The onsite outpatient PM&R office has an AANEM certified EMG lab performing over 2000 EMGs per year. Also onsite is one of seven outpatient therapy clinics, offering PT, OT, and Speech services. Specialized in and outpatient programs include amputee, brain injury, neuromuscular, orthopedic, spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s, and stroke rehabilitation. Reading Hospital Rehabilitation at Wyomissing is the only hospital in the region accredited by both the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and The Joint Commission. Its Stroke Specialty, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and Amputee Programs are also CARF-accredited. Reading Health Rehabilitation Hospital provides exceptional administrative and operational support to physicians, allowing them to focus on diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating patients with functional loss or disability due to illness or injury.

Requirements

  • MD/DO
  • American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • A valid PA Medical License or the ability to obtain one
  • Highly computer literate and familiar with charting
  • Excels in communicating sensitive and/or adverse information
  • Sound judgment and expert decision-making abilities
  • Analytical thinker and complex problem-solver
