About The Position

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is an intensive five-day treatment program serving children and adolescents ages 5 through 17 who are experiencing emotional or behavioral problems. Patients follow a personalized treatment plan for therapy and medication management. They are only required to be in the hospital during their scheduled PHP hours. JOB SUMMARY: The Program Specialist provides direct patient care. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention and activities of daily living. The Program Specialist is additionally responsible for the implantation of programs, training and the schedule.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • Minimum of 1 year prior experience with behavioral management of acute child/adolescent individuals required
  • BLS Provider certification through the American Heart Association required upon completion of orientation
  • CPI certification required upon completion of orientation
  • BLS Provider certifications must remain active throughout employment
  • CPI certifications must remain active throughout employment
  • Knowledge of psychiatric group processes
  • Knowledge of therapeutic relationships processes
  • Knowledge of age specific growth and development
  • Knowledge of limit setting and behavior management
  • Knowledge of CPI leadership skills
  • Knowledge of diagnostic understanding behind behaviors often exhibited within milieu
  • Knowledge of CPR training
  • Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, pre-adolescents, adolescents and adult patients.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Masters Degree in Psychology or related field strongly preferred
  • 4-5 years experience working with a psychiatric patient population preferred
