Emory University's Department of Radiation Oncology is seeking a full-time Photon Physicist faculty member. This position will operate under the guidance of the Director of Medical Physics and can be at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level. The department serves multiple clinical sites in the Atlanta metropolitan area, including Emory University Hospital Clifton, Winship Cancer Institute at Emory Midtown, Emory Proton Therapy Center, Emory Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Grady Hospital, and Emory Decatur Hospital. It is a key component of Winship, a National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and is deeply integrated into multidisciplinary cancer care. The department treats over 4,000 patients annually and utilizes advanced technology such as Varian™ and Elekta™ linear accelerators, a proton center, Gamma Knife®, HDR brachytherapy afterloaders, and CT scanners with 4D capabilities. The oncology information system is ARIA® with Eclipse™ and RayStation© treatment planning systems. The department has a strong track record in clinical, teaching, and research activities, with faculty holding significant grant funding, leading multi-center trials, and publishing in high-impact journals. The Medical Physics Division has a robust research program, with investigators funded in areas like artificial intelligence and image-guided radiotherapy.
