About The Position

CNN Photojournalists are responsible for recording images to illustrate CNN news events and stories. Photojournalists record, transmit and edit events and stories to the highest ethical, aesthetic, editorial and technical standards using the latest technology. They are on call 24 hours a day, 7 days per week.

Requirements

  • Visual Content Production: Demonstrates advanced lighting, photography and storytelling skills.
  • Able to gather and edit quality visual content and sound under deadline, for multiple platforms, as a one-person crew or as a collaborator on a team.
  • Keeps abreast of evolving technologies and concepts while seeking opportunities to adapt them for the benefit of the production.
  • Editorial Contribution: Has a keen news awareness for the stories on which they are assigned.
  • The Photojournalist is expected to be an editorial contributor to the team on which they are working or to report out relevant information to the network as a whole.
  • This position takes initiative to pitch, produce, and creatively tell relevant stories and/or ideas for all platforms.
  • Gear maintenance: Maintains all gear including crew vehicles, working with appropriate departments to keep all gear up to date and in working order.
  • Able to trouble-shoot quickly and effectively.
  • Administrative: Responsible for accounting of all expenses on corporate credit cards and submitting them in a timely manner per company guidelines.
  • Accounts for working hours via internal tracking and reporting applications.
  • Keeps all relevant credentials current.
  • Travel: A Photojournalist is expected to travel to a variety of news events often with little to no advance notice.
  • They are responsible for gathering, packing, and transporting production appropriate gear as well as arranging logistics including airfare, rental vehicle, and lodging.
