Phlebotomy Support Tech I/Phlebotomy Support Tech II
About The Position
The Phlebotomy Support Technician collects and processes blood and other specimens as directed. The role confirms patient identity, collects specimens in appropriate tubes using venipuncture or capillary techniques, and labels specimens accurately to ensure reliable patient results. It also processes specimens for subsequent testing, accesses and updates information, and makes corrections to orders as needed. The position is based at Cox Medical Center Branson in the Laboratory department. The scheduled hours are 40 per week, from 8:30 PM to 7:00 AM, on the night shift.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Tech I: No experience required.
- Tech II: At least 3 months of phlebotomy experience in a laboratory setting.
- Tech II: Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency.
- Tech II: Provide updated certification within 30 days after the certificate expiration date if there is documentation that renewal has been applied for.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams.
- Proficiency using computers and computer systems.
- Tech I: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management; strong customer service, time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
Nice To Haves
- Tech I: Six months of phlebotomy experience or one year of related experience.
- Tech II: Six months of phlebotomy experience.
Responsibilities
