Phlebotomy Support Tech I/Phlebotomy Support Tech II
About The Position
CoxHealth is seeking a Phlebotomy Support Technician II responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed. This role involves performing proper specimen collection by confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture/capillary techniques, and accurately labeling specimens to ensure accurate patient results. The technician will also process specimens appropriately for subsequent testing, accession, update information, and make corrections to orders as needed. Additionally, the role requires demonstrating the ability to perform Point of Care (POC) testing as directed.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech II: 3 months phlebotomy experience in a laboratory setting
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech II: Certified as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech II: Phlebotomist II’s have 30 days from the expiration date of their certificate to provide an updated certification, as long as there is documentation that certification renewal has been applied for.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and collaboratively in teams
- Proficient in using computers and computer systems
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech I: None
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management.
- Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer service, time management, interpersonal, presentation, organization, prioritizing, decision-making, and planning skills.
Nice To Haves
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech II: 6 months phlebotomy experience
- For Phlebotomy Support Tech I: 6 months phlebotomy experience OR 1 year related experience
Responsibilities
