About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Phlebotomy Supervisor to join our team in Birmingham, AL. This role involves supervising a team of phlebotomists within a hospital setting, managing patient flow, wait times, inventory, and operational duties such as payroll and scheduling. The supervisor will also be responsible for hiring, training, and addressing employee relations issues, while ensuring exceptional customer service and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders. The position emphasizes leadership, inspiration, and development of the phlebotomy team, with opportunities to impact patient and client experiences positively.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5 years or more of experience as a phlebotomist
  • 2 years or more supervising or leading a team
  • Have a Valid Driver's License and clean driving record with reliable transportation
  • Must be at least 21 years’ old
  • In-depth knowledge of phlebotomy duties, responsibilities and techniques
  • Proven track record in providing exceptional customer service
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment
  • Comfortably working under minimal supervision
  • Reliable transportation and clean driving record if applicable
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years or more of experience as a phlebotomist
  • 2 years or more of experience supervising or leading a team
  • Phlebotomy certification or completed training

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of (25+) phlebotomists working within Hospital setting
  • Manage patient flow, wait times, and inventory levels and information logs
  • Monitor monthly productivity and report any deviations as necessary
  • Coordinate phlebotomists' schedules through resourceful and creative thinking
  • Perform operational duties such as payroll, monthly schedules and performance appraisals
  • Partner with Human Resources regarding employee relations issues and disciplinary actions
  • Hire and train phlebotomists to fill any open positions
  • Communicate effectively to internal and external customers including patients, client office staff, sales team, logistics and senior management
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patients and clients
  • Provide resolution of any patient or client issues
  • Perform, collect and prepare specimens when needed
  • Travel to additional sites as necessary
