The phlebotomy specialist will provide exceptional customer service, perform skilled specimen collections and be the face of the company. You will also be a valued asset with responsibility for new and ongoing training of clinical staff including LPNs, Mas and Med techs. This role involves performing blood collections by venipuncture and capillary techniques for all age groups, collecting specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, alcohol tests etc., and performing data entry of patient information accurately and in a timely manner. The specialist will also process billing information, collect payments when required, prepare collected specimens for testing and analysis, and maintain patient and specimen information logs. Providing superior customer service to all patients, performing administrative and clerical duties, and traveling to additional sites when needed are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role includes training new onboarding staff and providing annual competency and ongoing training to UCHC staff. The specialist must maintain discretion when handling confidential information and adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations. They will work cooperately with other team members, demonstrate proficiency with the practice management system, and strictly adhere to infection control policies and procedures. Assisting staff training at all levels, acting as an intermediary between UCHC and patients, and traveling to UCHC clinic locations on an as-needed basis are also part of the role. Participation in inter-disciplinary task forces and workgroups as relevant, and other duties as assigned, are also expected.
