About The Position
McFarland Clinic is hiring a Phlebotomist for its Ames Lab department. The role collects, receives, prepares, and dispatches specimens for testing. It also includes receptionist and clerical duties, maintaining supplies and a clean work area, attending required meetings, participating on committees as requested, and performing related work as needed. Candidates should be service-oriented, work well on a team, and provide extraordinary care to patients. The schedule is Monday through Friday, either 7:30 AM–4:30 PM or 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, with rotating Saturdays from 8:00 AM to noon. The position offers competitive clinic pay and a benefits package. Pre-employment drug screening and criminal history background checks are conditions of hire.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or HiSET.
- Formal training and/or experience in phlebotomy.
- Current Basic Life Support certification for Health Care Providers.
- Mandatory Reporting of Dependent Adult and Child Abuse.
- Computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Phlebotomy experience in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Certification in Phlebotomy is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Collect and receive specimens for testing.
- Prepare and dispatch specimens for testing.
- Perform receptionist duties and other clerical duties as needed.
- Collect blood samples by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick.
- Obtain urine and other specimens from patients.
- Stock and maintain supplies in work areas.
- Help keep the work area clean.
- Attend required meetings and participate on committees as requested.
- Perform related work as required.
